The rates from Zorbas Rent a Car include:

·         Third party insurance covers third person towards property damages and bodily injuries.

·         PAI-personal accident insurance for passengers.

·         PAI-personal accident insurance for driver.

·         Insurance coverage amounts are set by insurance laws where the car is rented.

·         Fire insurance is included with NO excess.

·         Theft insurance is included with NO excess.

·         Super theft insurance means that the car is fully insured, and no excess will be charged.

·         CDW (Collision Damage Waiver), with NO excess/deductible. The renter is insured for the rental vehicle damaged by accident with no obligation to pay any excess.

·         FDW (Full Damage Waiver), with excess/deductible depending on the car category booked.

·         In case that you want extra insurance as PAI (Personal Accident Insurance) or FDW (Full Damage Waiver) please inform us during the booking.Through this way you will get the best price that includes the type of the insurance that you choosed of course when this is possible.

Exceptions To An All Inclusive Insurance

Charges for any of the damages below will be charged directly to the client, the most important are the following:

-Antenna, trays, damage to car lock, wheels, glass, loss or damage to keys, windshield wipers, mirrors, spare key and car jack, personal belogings in the rented car, hubcap, lights, gas cap, warning triangles, damage to the upholstery of the car, extreme dirtiness in the car, underside damage, damages caused by roof racks, tire punctures and burst tires, fuel errors, damage to child seats and baby seats, lack of electricity because of forgotten turn on electrical devices.

-The vehicle is operated on any unauthorized road, non-asphalt road, dirt road or off-road (eg. Balos).

-The renter violates traffic rules (eg. STOP signs, speed limits, road direction, U-turns).

-The renter violates parking rules.

The car rental company, in any case, is not obligated in replacing a flat tire or damages in music equipment, damages caused by client having used wrong kind of fuel, damages caused by off road driving, tow-away charges.

Zorbas Rent a Car will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, causing willful damage, off road driving or driving without due care and attention or damages caused by negligence
The customer will accept direct responsibility in respect of such claims.

Any unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle may be interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge to the client.


You have to inform the car rental company immediately.

In case of theft or damage or an accident with somebody else you have to contact the police and take a written report.
When you return the car you have also to make a theft or a damage report with the car rental company.

In case that you don't respect the above conditions or you miss some of the papers requested in this situation, the no excess is not valid any more.

The conditions on the car rental agreement are legally binding to the hirer.
All rental cars are insured for a maximum number of passengers. In the interest of safety this number must not be exceeded and if exceeded the insurance will be invalidated.

Please make sure that the car your book is big enough for your needs.

Vehicle must never be removed from place of accident until police report has been completed and the car rental company has been notified.
In case of any accident with your rental car involved you must immediately contact the nearest police station and make an accident report.
If you do not report accident to the police and comply with the requirements under the country's law, the insurance might become invalid.
The report should state if there was any influence of alcohol or drugs. It is essential that you also report any accident or damage to the car rental company.

In case of other damages to the rented car, the above procedure should also be followed. If the vehicle is damaged while parked you have to report the damage to the car rental company before the car is moved.

It is mandatory for the client to file a police report in case of theft and to turn this document in to the car rental company. It is essential that you also inform any theft to the car rental company immediately. Documents of the car and the keys of the car must be handed to the car rental company.

The client must report all damages IMMEDIATELY to the car rental company.
Any unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle may be interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge to the client.

No insurance covers damages caused willfully or wrecklessly.

 In the unlucky event of accident the most important advice is:

 STAY CALM and try not to panic!

 If anybody is injured, help them first and if needed call the ambulance

 Call the car rental company.

 Call also the police and make a report of the accident/damage.

 Obtain as much information as possible about the other vehicle and driver, like name, registration number etc.

 In case of mechanical breakdown contact the car rental company or the Road Assistance.


The insurance does not cover anything from the damages in case that the car is driven by somebodyelse that did not make the proof to the company that ows driving license and that is not written on the contract as second driver. The vehicle has to be driven only by the renters themselves. Any accident or damage in this case is their responsability and is not covered by the insurance.

The car rental voucher must be presented when picking up your rental car.

For airport pick-ups, it is essential that Zorbas Rent a Car has been given the correct flight number and arrival time, before rental start date.

For pick up in ports we need the name of the ferry and arrival time. For hotel delivery we need the name of the hotel and if available also telephone number and address of the hotel.

If this is not available at the time of booking, you have to inform us about those details at least 3 days prior to rental start date online or by phone to the telephone number on your voucher.

Should this information not be provided in time? Zorbas Rent a Car can accept no responsibility or compensation for a failed rental.


The drivers must be a minimum of 21 years of age for car categories economy, medium
23 for the intermediate, full, family, automatic and mini van and 25 years old for the mini bus for 9 persons.

- Please note that we do not check the age of the driver when we receive a booking. If you do not meet the age requirements upon delivery, you will not be able to pick up the car and you will be asked to pay for the full amount of the rental fee.
- There is not any young or senior driver fee.
- The maximum rental age is 79 years.

-Drivers must hold a valid license for at least one (1) year. National Driving Licenses issued in EU, US, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Israel, Russia and Ukraine are accepted. An International Driving License is required in all other cases. Renters with driving licenses established in another alphabet than the Latin alphabet (for example Arabian, Russian etc) need to present an international driving license in addition to their national license.

Period of rental

Rental days are based on a 24-hour basis, starting at the time mentioned in the voucher.

Zorbas Rent a Car allow up to 1 hour delay in return time without calculating an extra day. The one hour grace period is only valid at the time of booking. Changes in return time after rental start will be handled by the car rental company. In case of delayed flight etc we allow a change in delivery time up to 1 hour, which means your rental period can start and be calculated 1 hour later than on the reservation. There will be no extra cost for this except if the “out of hour” charge should apply.

Different pickup/drop off location

It is posible to pickup your car in one location and drop it off in another one always based on agreement with the company. The minimum rental period for such a rental is for 7 days. Although based on availability this can be offered for smaller periods also with an extra fee of 20-40euro depending on the distance between the 2 locations. Always contact first the company to be sure that this is possible.

Out of hour charges

In most locations flights/ ferries can be met and cars supplied outside normal working hours. However, an additional charge for “out of hour” service might apply. Details will be shown during the booking procedure. In the event that a flight/ ferry is delayed or any other reason causing the car pick-up to fall outside normal working hours, the additional charge will be made locally, where the “out of hour” service is available.

MILEAGE Unlimited mileage is included in our rates.

TAXES V.A.T (Value Added Tax) 24% is included in our rates

ADDITIONAL DRIVERS One (1) additional driver can be registered without any additional charge. Maximum three (3) drivers including the main driver are allowed per rental. The cost is 3 EUR/day per driver for each added driver.

ROAD ASSISTANCE Road Assistance is free of charge and available 24/7. Our Road assistance partner is Intersalonika and their direct phone number from mobiles 11555.
Although it is recommended to contact our office directly in the event of required road assistance. During out of office hours, all direct calls to our office are diverted to our emergency mobile phone number mentioned on your contract.

SELECTION OF PARTICULAR CAR BRAND OR MODEL Bookings are subject to a specific car category, which usually includes several different car models with similar features. You can ask for a specific model after your booking is confirmed. We will add your model preference to your booking and we will deliver the requested model if it is available the day of your arrival. Please note that you must be prepared to collect any of the advertised vehicles within a category. In case you have a confirmed reservation for a specific car group and there is not any available car from this category, we reserve the right to deliver a vehicle of bigger category with no extra charge.

CAR REPLACEMENT In case of the unfortunate event of an accident/breakdown of the vehicle, your car will be replaced with another one within 24 hours from the time the accident/breakdown has been reported. Our company has the right to investigate the causes of the accident/breakdown and deny the replacement of the car if the use of the car was against terms & conditions.

INFANT SEAT, BABY SEAT AND BOOSTER SEAT We offer 3 different types of child seats (Infant seat, Baby seat, Booster seat). One piece is offered Free of Charge. Each extra costs 2 € /day, payable together with the cost of the rental. The seat has to be booked in advance. We can not guarantee availability upon arrival.

NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES ON FLIGHT DELAYS All our employees are always informed for your arrival time, as well as last minute flight schedule changes that might occur. They will wait for your arrival flight in order to deliver you the booked vehicle.

MODERN AND SAFE VEHICLES We are able to guarantee that you will be delivered a safe, well maintained and well serviced vehicle in very good technical condition.

CLEANING, SERVICE, ENGINE CHECK AND PROMPT ATTENTION Our well-trained staff and engineers  have checked the vehicle so that you have a safe journey.

ROAD MAP, GPS SAT NAV Upon delivery, you will get a recent map of Crete island free of charge. We can offer you a GPS Sat nav device with the most recent map of Greece, with latin character map. The cost is €5 per day. Advanced booking is required and minimum cost per rental is €30. The customer is liable for misplacing or damaging the GPS unit/mount to a maximum charge of €100.

FUEL POLICY Option 1: Return as Collected
The renter has to return the vehicle with the same level of petrol as delivered. Vehicles delivered during the night (out of office hours), have at least quarter tank of petrol filled. In addition our representative will be willing to guide you to the nearest petrol station.
Option 2: Collect Full & Return Empty
The client has to pay locally for the initial tank of fuel. The car should then be returned with the tank as empty as possible, since there is no refund for unused fuel.

KEY LOSS The customer is liable for all costs to replace keys which have been lost or damaged, the cost of retrieval of keys which have been locked inside a vehicle.

TYRES DAMAGES Non-repairable/burst tires are not covered by the insurance. It is the responsability of the customer.If the tire is repairable the customer may repair it and pay it and the company is not obliged to refund any costs. If it is not repairable the customer is obliged to replace it with same type and will be charged for the replacement.

Cancellations of confirmed orders

All cancellations have to be made through the web site of Zorbas company. We can normally not accept cancellations made by telephone. For cancellations more than 120 hours (5 full days) prior to rental period start all your down payment (of 30% deposit that we require as a guarantee of the reservation) will be paid back and there will be no other costs, except those that might occur due to exchange rates.

For cancellations 120 hours (5 full days) or less prior to rental period start, the down payment will not be refunded. There is though a maximum amount of 50 Euro which can be kept by This is to compensate the car rental company for their costs. Cancellations after the starting of the rental period will be handled by the car rental company on your destination. is not responsible for any changes in pricing that might occur.

No refunds will be made for no-shows at destination or failure to produce relevant documents, early returns or cancellations after the hire start date. There are normally no refunds for any unused days. It is although up to the car rental company to decide if any refund can be made for unused days.

For last minute orders no refund will be made if the order is confirmed by the car rental company.
